I have witnessed countless situations where a man or group of men act as though they are above the law, and justice is never administered fairly under the man-made law.
But no one, absolutely no one, is above the law of karma. I am not just saying this because I am a Buddhist, but I am saying this because I believe that karma is the universal and natural law of the universe that includes all life forms and phenomena in physical or mental states and that exists within infinite time and mental streams.
I found a quote that really touched me deeply that depicts the true meaning of karma, with a few added words of my own.
"What we do, say, and think—leaves traces. Those traces don't disappear. They shape what comes next, sometimes in ways we don't remember, but that still influences this life."

Karma applies to everyone equally. Karma does not favor one over another because one has more wealth and power. Billionaires, kings, religious devotees, and presidents—they all have to face their karma like every one of us will in the infinite continuum of mindstream.
This is why I say one's karma is one's only true belonging, the only genuine belonging that survives one's death and acts as the basis (seed) for a subsequent existence via rebirth.
저는 개인이나 집단이 마치 법 위에 있는 것처럼 행동하는 수많은 상황을 목격했으며, 인간이 만든 법 아래에서는 결코 공정한 정의가 실현되지 않는다는 것을 보았습니다.
하지만 그 누구도, 절대로 그 누구도 업보(業報)의 법 위에 있을 수 없습니다. 제가 불교 신자이기 때문에 이런 말을 하는 것이 아니라, 업보(業報)는 모든 생명체와 물리적, 정신적 상태를 초월하여 존재하는 모든 현상을 포괄하는 우주의 보편적이고 자연적인 법칙이며, 무한한 시간과 정신적 흐름 속에 존재한다고 믿기 때문입니다.
저는 업보의 진정한 의미를 잘 나타내는, 제게 깊은 감명을 준 한 구절을 발견했고, 여기에 제 생각을 조금 덧붙였습니다.
"우리가 행하고, 말하고, 생각하는 것, 그것모두는. 그 흔적을 남깁니다. 그 흔적은 다음에 일어날 일을 형성하며, 때로는 우리가 기억하지 못하는 방식으로, 하지만 여전히 이 삶에 영향을 미칩니다."
우리가 행하고, 말하고, 생각하는 것은 흔적을남깁니다, 그것이 바로 업보입니다. 그 흔적은 사라지지 않습니다. 업보는 앞으로 일어날 일들을 결정짓는데, 때로는 우리가 기억하지 못하는 방식으로 영향을 미치기도 하고, 그 영향은 여전히 현생과 내세에까지 미칩니다.
카르마(업보, 業報)는 누구에게나 똑같이 적용됩니다. 카르마는 부와 권력이 더 많다고 해서 누군가를 편애하지 않습니다. 억만장자, 왕, 어떠한 종교의 신자 또는 종교지도자이든, 아무리 권력이 큰 대통령 (독재자)이든간에, 우리 모두처럼 무한한 시간의 마음의 흐름 속에서 각자의 카르마 (업보,業報)에 직면해, 자신이 만든 원인, "인, 因,"에 대한 댓가, "과, 果,"를 치러야 합니다.
이것이 바로 제가 말하기를, 업보(業報)야말로 유일하고 진정한 자산이며, 죽음 이후에도 유일한 자산으로남아 다음 생의 탄생을 위한 토대(씨앗)가 된다고 말하는 이유입니다.
